The Leg It Challenge
The concept of the Leg It Challenge was hatched by Holly Balchin and her family when they walked the Thames Path some five years ago. As they made their journey, whilst The Treehouse School was in its concept phase, they mused about an annual sponsored event from Oxford to Cholsey; the seed was sewn and we swung into action…’
Leg Ache for The Treehouse – 2017
This year’s challenge saw us beating the bounds of Cholsey (approximately 17 miles). As always, the children’s attitude was stoic, unfettered and positive. An amazing day that could not have happened without the permission of all Landowners..many thanks to you all.
Leg It for the Treehouse – 2016
This year’s Leg It Challenge was held on Sunday 5 June 2016.
The aim of the challenge is to get from Oxford to Cholsey using any sustainable means of transport – walk, run, cycle, scoot, boat, canoe, horse, unicycle!
Leg It for the Treehouse – 2015
For the 2015 Leg-It Challenge we walked The Ridgeway (87 miles in total). Some of us did the whole walk, starting on the Friday of half term. Friends of the Treehouse School joined us midway on Sunday 31st May for the annual Leg-It Challenge. The whole Treehouse gang joined us for the last part of the journey.
Leg It for the Treehouse – 2014
Congratulations to everyone who took part in this year’s event and thank you for the sponsorship. New faces and old made their way from Oxford to Cholsey using any sustainable means of transport. For me the best part is the journey with family and friends, enjoying the countryside and chat as we wend our way home. the best part? Seeing the children beaming with pride as they return home…but what did I hear from some in our party? The Leg It is getting a bit too easy! RIGHT thinking caps on for next year….
Leg It for the Treehouse – 2013
Congratulations to all those who took part and a great many thanks to those who sponsored us. Today was, despite cold, wind, driving rain, broken vans and pedals, detours, a muddy terraine and many other adversities, a truly memorable day.
For me the Leg It Challenge, apart from being a substantial fund-raiser, has come to symbolise everything that is good about the school; a large number of people working for the common good; adults and children being fit and active outdoors; the use of sustainable modes of transport; a brief opportunity to slow life down and have a good look at the countryside around us; spending time together as a group or as a family; the sharing of food, memories and stories: this year was no exception…
Leg It for the Treehouse – 2012
Lucky us! We have an amazing bunch of supporters who really want to make The Treehouse happen. Our sponsored event, with participants travelling from Oxford to Cholsey, employing a variety of modes of transport, was just another indicator of the lengths some of our friends will go to in order to help us. The day was a huge success and enormous fun…
